The Yellow Rose of Texas Republican Women's Club located in Tomball hit the streets recently to donate books to Tomball Independent School District school libraries.
Each month the Yellow Rose of Texas in honor of the guest speaker at the club meeting donates a book to area school libraries.
The book presentations are to not only honor the guest speaker, but also to honor the Mamie Eisenhower and the Barbara Bush Literacy Program.
The representatives from the Yellow Rose who delivered books were Judy Wilson, Bylaws & Ethics Chairman and Becky Clepper, Literacy Chairman.
One of the schools that received a book donation was Tomball Junior High.
" The kids will love the book, and we really appreciate the donation to our school," Sue Cox, librarian at the junior high said.
The club’s Literacy Chairman Becky Clepper said literacy is a priority for the organization.
"It is important to our club members that we not only give books to the area school libraries, but continue with our donations of pocket-size dictionaries to the third graders at Tomball Elementary and Cedric Smith Elementary in Magnolia, and continue providing U.S. Constitutions to all the fifth graders in Tomball and Magnolia ISD,” Clepper said. “The Yellow Rose Republican Women believe that readers become leaders.
