Arlis Roy Clepper
Arlis Roy Clepper, 79 of Tomball, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Olen Morris and Nola Mae "Jack" (Carroll) Clepper, June 20, 1933 in Conroe, Texas. Arlis graduated from Tomball High School in 1951. He attended Sam Houston State University. Arlis married his high school sweetheart, Gerry West on September 11, 1952, and they lived together in Tomball, their entire married life. Arlis worked as a Human Resource Director for McEvoy Oil Field Equipment for over 20 years. He then became the Vice President of Hughes Tool in Houston. After retirement he worked as a photographer for Ron West Photography of Tomball, Texas. Arlis then became part owner of Texas Outdoor Power Sales and Equipment in Conroe, Texas. Arlis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tomball, was active in the Oil Patch Kids serving as President, founder of the Oil Patch Kids Scholarship Fund for Tomball High School seniors, member of the Tomball High School Alumni Association, board member of the Spring Creek Historical Museum, and a former coach for the Tomball Little League, Lions Club member and Tomball City Councilman serving as Mayor Pro-Tem. He had a passion for all sports: avid golfer, bowler, basketball and fast pitch softball player for many years and was a booster of the Tomball Cougars serving as referee and announcer for the Tomball High School football games. He always had season tickets to the Cougars home games. Arlis Clepper is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gerry West Clepper; daughters: Becky Clepper and Kay Glasscock, Son-in-law: Wayne Glasscock, Granddaughters: Leslie and Joli Glasscock; niece, Debi Clepper all of Tomball, and nephew David Clepper of Pasadena, Texas and many other nieces and nephews and very close friends. Preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Peggy Clepper and nephew, Darrell Clepper. Visitation will be held at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Klein Funeral Chapel in Tomball at 2:00 P.M. Donations in his honor can be made to the Oil Patch Kids Scholarship Fund.
